An Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician I develops
proficiency and assists journey-level technicians with a wide
variety of I&C tasks. These tasks include the installation,
preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic
equipment such as pressure transducers, flowmeters, position
transmitters, level sensors, motor-operated valves, power supplies,
workstation displays, signal indicators, wireless data links,
local-area network distribution, wide-area network data terminals,
voice-over-IP telephone systems, supervisory control and data
acquisition (SCADA) systems, programmable logic controllers, public
address systems, audio-visual presentation systems, safety
monitoring and alarm annunciation equipment, security surveillance
systems, and energy management devices.
The I&C Technician I also assists and performs the
installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of
regulatory instrumentation including turbidimeters, chlorine
analyzers, ammonia analyzers, particle counters, pH analyzers,
temperature sensors, ozone residual/concentration analyzers,
dissolved oxygen analyzers, conductivity probes, and other
water-constituent monitoring systems. The tasks are carried out
both in a treatment plant environment and in District distribution
facilities throughout the Orange County Service Area.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and
completion of 15 semester units in electronics from an accredited
college, university, vocational, or military school

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
