Chance Act. General Job Summary: The Full-time Nursing Faculty
member functions within the mission, philosophy, and procedures
within the United University of Nursing and the policies set forth
by the state of California and the Board of Registered Nursing.
Full-time Faculty may teach a combination of didactic, lab, and
clinical courses to meet their Full-Time Equivalent Hours. Teaching
assignment(s) may include any of the approved courses within the
nursing science/clinical practice discipline for which the
candidate is qualified to teach. Essential Responsibilities:
Teaching Teaches to develop, implement, evaluate, and update the
programs purpose, philosophy, objectives, and organizational
framework. Ensures effective and high-quality instruction. Creates
an equity based and welcoming classroom environment. Supports
student-centered educational practices that reflect UUNs Mission
and Strategic Plan and the Nursing Programs Mission. Maintains
current clinical competency and knowledge of current evidence in
the literature required to teach in the clinical, lab, and
classroom settings assigned. Promotes a positive learning
environment emphasizing patient/student safety and compliance that
meets national accrediting agency standards. Supports students by
giving positive feedback and opportunities for learning and
remediation. Provides students with a recommended plan for academic
improvement as needed and follows up to determine if student
performance improves. Exhibits professional behavior and
communication that serves as a positive role model for students.
Attends orientation for the clinical sites assigned and maintains
competencies and compliance requirements of the clinical sites
assigned. Program Participates in the development, implementation,
evaluation, and revision of curriculum as well as assess student
learning outcomes at the course and program levels. Participates in
scheduled department and university meetings. Carries out collegial
responsibilities including, but not limited to, institutional
committee assignments, student recruitment and retention, and
participation in shared governance and campus life activities.
Strategically builds support and participation among colleagues for
equity-related initiatives. Prepares recruitment materials,
participates in recruitment activities, and conducts activities
that support student retention. Participates in professional growth
activities and remains current in the discipline(s). Complies with
all applicable University, state and federal rules and regulations.
Maintains confidentiality of information (including but not limited
to: student and employee personal information, student grades,
etc.), both during and after employment with the University.
Carries out other duties as assigned by the Dean or Director of
Nursing. Attendance at any UUN event for the purpose of marketing,
recruitment or community engagement will be on a voluntary basis.
Required Qualifications: The following qualifications are required
pursuant to the California Code of Regulations Title 16, 1425(a)
Education: graduation from an accredited college or university with
a minimum of a masters degree in a field of Nursing, which includes
coursework in nursing, education, or administration. Experience:
three years' continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience in
direct patient care as a registered nurse. Experience: one year
continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience in direct
patient care as a registered nurse in area of specialty within the
last 5 years. Must be eligible for approval as an instructor by the
California Board of Registered Nursing. One year of teaching
experience preferred. Required Licensures/Certifications: Must have
unencumbered, current California Registered Nurse license. Current
American Heart Association BLS certification
